November weather

Image
As November slips in the open arms of December, as expected, things cool down a little. The solar panel still deliver hot water, but soon the electric emersion heater will come into action. The evenings and morning require central heating, but the days are pleasantly warm more often than not. I wearing just a T-shirt yesterday.

Ploughing the fields

Image
Milas is an agricultural region and there are tractor working daily in the fields. What surprised me is that an old guy was ploughing his field manually. I must say I have never seen a plough being pulled by a horse and it was not a small field.

Tuzla Park Resort

Image
Just across the road from Tuzla/Flamingo/Boğazici lake/inlet is the Tuzla Park Resort. The resort has taken a few years to get itself on it's feet, but after a couple of successful AGM's they are on their way to having a well run resort. All the pools are up and running, they have a sauna, gym and soon a Turkish bath and indoor pool. I wish the resort all the best

November weather

Yep, the weather is much more changeable now. The days of guaranteed blue sky have passed, the I would say 50% of the days a more blue that grey. I went out with a jumper today, but had to take it off, down the my t shirt, so not bad for November. Still do not need heating on at home yet!

Ancient ruins

Image
Milas town was built over the ancient city of Milasas. Unfortunately this means most of the ruins have been lost forever. Before a building can be erected in Turkey now, a number of investigative digs need to be made to ensure no ruins exist. The photos shows an area in central Milas that is now being excavated as such ruins were uncovered. Recently, the main road was being relaid and a rather large ancient mosaic was uncovered. Not sure if the mosaic was removed, or just photographed and covered up again.
