Ancient ruins
Milas town was built over the ancient city of Milasas. Unfortunately this means most of the ruins have been lost forever.
Before a building can be erected in Turkey now, a number of investigative digs need to be made to ensure no ruins exist. The photos shows an area in central Milas that is now being excavated as such ruins were uncovered.
Recently, the main road was being relaid and a rather large ancient mosaic was uncovered. Not sure if the mosaic was removed, or just photographed and covered up again.
