No door sill rain deflector in Turkey

If you have a property in Turkey, you may well be used to having a puddle of water by the front door after a downpour of rain. This can lead to damage to any woodwork or a wet rug or door mat. It is also common to have plasterwork damage on either side of the door.

The problem is that the steel security doors are designed for security, but the bottom of the door is missing any protection from rain when it runs down the door. In the UK we have rain deflectors at the bottom, which effectively keeps the water away from where the door meets the sill.

So, I have fashioned a rain excluder that will prevent the rain from running down the door and into the house.

I have used an aluminium floor beading on the threshold, with a profile attached to the door. The profile deflects the rain over the beading.

Job done.
